new bumper.

hi i have a 1987 short box. with no bumper. i would like to intall a new bumper that matches the front. i have the new bumper but no brackets. dose anyone know of a place to get the brakets other than a catolge order. or do any braket off something else work.

first off, welcome from Kansas.

and im sure u can make some other brackets work, but the original brackets would make ur life alot easier.

good luck, i've been trying to find rear brackets for a while now and finally gave up and ordered new ones.

i was just offering someone my experience of not being able to find used parts and hoping they could use the information. i'm not trying to sell or give away anything but some good usable information.

I think Liz was talking about the post a few above yours that she edited.


Your best bet is a junkyard. The LMCtrucks catalogs are a good reference for parts interchange, they will help you figure out what fits what. I just did a quick check and the part number for the brackets on the trucks and burbs is the same, which makes sense. Also check Craigslist for people parting out vehicles.

You might want to also consider becoming a subscribing member of the site, that way you can list your own Want To Buy and For Sale threads.

Or, if you have any fab experience, you could make your own.. I've done it a couple of times for the front and rear.
