Drip Rails ???

Hey Folks,
I NEED to replace both drip rails on my 72. Ordered a pair from the big store in Corona, CA. and they were junk. The rolled edge was about half as high as it needed to be. Wouldn't match up with the original at all. Besides, if I put sealer in the channel, it would probably have filled it completely. Sooo... Who make a GOOD set of drip rails?

Thanks,
Paul

Re: Drip Rails ???

I got mine from GMC Pauls and was happy with them. They were very close to the original parts I took off. I was just going to patch parts but after I started cutting I was glad I took the whole thing off. That rust hides every where.

Re: Drip Rails ???

Shave em! But if you want the original look, I think Brothers Trucks sells some. Not sure of the quality. I would think a vendor here on the board sells some.

Re: Drip Rails ???

If you don't mind leaks and getting wet, shave them. Ask some of the guys that have done it before.

yeah weld it solid. dont just tack it up (like most body shops) and bondo over it .. Pin holes are the problem and its good to test this kinda stuff before you go to paint. another thing is to remove your windsheild when you do this because the heat will warp the metal if done to fast and creat a bad seal between the window and metal.

Re: Drip Rails ???

Thanks for the replies. Shaving them isn't in my near future because it's a D/D. I've ordered from GMC Paul's before, I guess I can give him a shot.

Thanks again,
Paul
