My first attempt at fiberglass

So I thought I would try and make some kick panels while I wait for the rest of my interior to show up. Not too bad so far I dont think, I have a fair amount of sanding to do if I am going to paint them but I might just sand them down a bit, bondo a little and them wrap them in Vinyl or carpet. I'll post some more pictures after the sanding and covering if anyone wants me to. What do you think?

Awesome, do you have any pics showing the base you started with? Also on the driverside, parking brake issue, how are you getting past that?

I do, I'll add them tonight. As far as the parking brake goes, it clears without having to make any adjustments. I chose 5-1/4 instead of 6-1/2" speaker because of the depth to avoid any issue with the brake.

edit: I must have deleted those pictures, this is the back after being wrapped in fabric and a couple layers of glass. I used some dowels to get the angle I needed for the speaker

Re: My first attempt at fiberglass

Thanks for the compliments everyone. I got one side finished and painted, I think I may still try to wrap them in Vinyl but I think they ok painted too. There were a few pin holes in the bondo/fiberglass that I just couldnt get to sand out but they are only noticeable if you are right on top of them and looking for imperfections. I still need to dye the other plastics so I didnt install them all the way yet.

Re: My first attempt at fiberglass

Very trick. I was always nervous about my big goofy foot would hit it all the time if I did an install to my truck. How is the relationship between your foot and the speaker as far as distance?

Re: My first attempt at fiberglass

Those are going to be tricky to wrap in vinyl. Easiest way out would be to paint them. Now you need some 6x9 boxes for the cab corners.
