Re: Carnage (a.k.a. Cletus Kasady) thread
Ouch, that one hurts. Sadly I'm on the other side of the state from my car parts. Got a few though. Got a bmw w/ a bottom end I grenaded. Pretty proud of that. Also when I was 15 rebuilt my muncie m21 and forgot a bearing in the cluster gear oops, and blew up the input shaft and cluster gear. For some reason no matter how hard I am on my truck, never breaks much of anything.

Redhead,, my guess that is just the tip of the iceburg,, first question I ask myself when I see valvetrain damage is WHY??? and WHAT ELSE broke. When you pop th eintatke off to gather up ther rest of the pushrod pieces, might as well take that head off and see the 'WHY' it happened.

Re: Carnage (a.k.a. Cletus Kasady) thread
I used to have pics of my 4.56 eaton brute force carrier that the cross pin bolt backed out hit the housing then wedged between the ring and pinion at 65 mph and BOOM lost the carrier both spiders were split in 2 and the clutch plates and springs were mangled. Whole rear JUNK! Can't find my pics.

Re: Carnage (a.k.a. Cletus Kasady) thread
had a friend build one of them stroker 391 smallblocks. good for streetrod or just to say, hey it's a 396 smallblock. but for all out drag racing, not good. here why, as the rev's approached 7000 rpm, it was to late, the rod bolts in the number one and three pistons failed. one can only guess what went next, the crank or the block. from what was left its hard to tell. the pistons were turned 90 degrees in there bores, (have you ever seen an h-beam rod cork screwed), the dart block was cracked from top to bottom, both cyllinders had holes in them from the wrist pins going through. the big solid roller cam was the only thing that survived the short block disaster. went back to the drawing board and built a 421 small block, using the same solid roller cam, he's been running it for three years now with no problems. last pass it made at the track was 8.49 at 158 mph. unfortunately i never took pictures of the carnage, but he came away with the knowledge that rev limiters are a wise investment, and, if it looks to good to be true it probably is.
