Can you identify.
I realise that this is the vacum hose which runs from the the Trany to the engine but what is the Gold coloured thing in the pic that the hose attaches to? and it seems to be sucking Trans fluid up the hose, is that a problem?.

Re: Can you identify.
Yes - the diaphram has failed in the modulator.
$20 from jegs - you can probably find it cheaper. http://www.jegs.com/p/B&M/748052/10002/-1/10739 Last edited by 70inline6; 08-20-2008 at 12:05 PM. |

Re: Can you identify.
Yes, the inner rubber diaphram has failed. You can pick up an adjustable one at your local auto parts store for about $12. Just tell them you want an adjustable vacuum modulator for a Turbo 350.

Re: Can you identify.
I would replace it with the quickness too. It is probably sucking fluid right into the engine. While that'll help clean the valves and not harm the engine... it'll drop the level of the tranny, which if you just wait for the tranny to slip, then damage is already done. Granted, it's minimal damage, but over and over again will add up.

Re: Can you identify.
Thanks very much you guys for all your help and replies, now at least I know what to ask for when I go parts shopping...hope it's not done to much damage already. Wes at Classic Heartbeat should have that Modulator thingy, wished I did have a local parts store like you guys
Thanks again. I would be lost without you all and this forum.
