Re: original a/c???
According to all the factory/dealer literature I have collected over the years, these items are not factory, as least for the 4-5-6 Chevy trucks.
I couldn't connect on the eBay links. |

Re: original a/c???
This looks like a compressor from a Ford Mustang. I remember because my mom had a 68 with A/C, and that is what i looked like. I could be wrong seeing the picture is not very good.

Re: original a/c???
If that is a ford compressor, I think they work good to convert to airride systems.

Re: original a/c???
The vents are correct for 64-66 GMC trucks. I had a 66 panel that had the factory a/c on it. It uses the same heater box as Chevy and pull cables are mounted under the radio. The vents bolt under dash on left and right side. A friend of mine has a 66 1/2 ton with it too.

Re: original a/c???
This is the factory A/C set-up on the 4-5-6 Chevy trucks. The other set-ups are aftermarket installations.

Re: original a/c???
the compressor is a york that was also labled as a motorcraft part and did AC duty on many 60's and 70' vehicles mostly fords and Mopar. They still make them and they make fantastic air ride compressors.
good info here: http://www.kilbyenterprises.com/compressors.htm Also anyone who has heard of the Oasis those are basically york compressors hooked up to a DC motor similar to those that run hydraulic pumps. Josh

Re: original a/c???
Here's a few pictures of the panel I had. Pics are not real good - 5 years ago and with a not-so-good camera!

Re: original a/c???
I understand , but was it available on GMCs
obviously the Chevy a/c vents will not work with the GMC dashes, so something had to be different??

Re: original a/c???
The photo LILRED66 shows if factory A/C for Chevys. The one I posted is factory A/C for GMC. The dealer add-on units all hung under the dash, like cars. GMC has a totally different dash than Chevy, hence the different A/C set ups.
