home made wood bed. need specs.
im gana try an do this in the nex week or so. would like a guide line to go by. can someone please tell me how the made thier own wood bed. what kind of wood, alll the parts, tools and space needed. i assume its cheeper then geting the already routed planks. i know ill have to buy the metal strips. someone help me out. i need somethn to do!..thanks. w.

Here are the specs from GMC Pauls Website for the wood beds. I purchase my steel strips from Mar-k
I got my wood planks from Home Depot. I ripped, cut and planned the wood to size. The steel strips from Mar-K were $7.00 each, They may be still offering FREE Shipping I got lucky and got all my Stainless 1/4"-20 Carriage Bolts from swap meet Washers and lock nuts from Home Depot Its NOT finished yet, Sorry NO Pics http://www.gmcpauls.com/47-72_BedWood_Info.htm

I cut mine(white oak) using GMCPaul's specs, but had to change the "c" and "d" specs to 3/8", because my aftermarket stainless strips did not have the same width as the originals, so keep that in mind. (I didn't realize it until after I had cut the grooves) It's alot of work, but will look great when you're done.

 this is what im rockn right now. i dont know i just think its kinda half ass....let me know your thoughts. it looks like ill be spending about $400 or so doing this my self. tell me if im wrong. i can do sumthn similar to this again for abour $60. whats this cost as well fellas. i just think the slats liek the original looks nicer,cleaner..
