Ok - so I have finished the install of the Heidt's IFS - now a five lug front end, and I am working on installing a 12 bolt posie out of a 70 El Camino..so my old mag rims are history. I have narrowed the selection down to a Coy's wheel (bright chrome) or a AR Hopster (polished). What do you guys think? any votes? Also...what is a good tire and size to run on a 17 inch wheel. I really don't want to go low profile. Little old fashion and still like some side wall. Any help would be great.

OK Hhan, you asked. A polished wheel will require more upkeep than chrome, but I favor the look of the Coy over the Hopster. That being said tho, the Coy don't hold a candle to the Torque Thrusts they try to copy. Torque Thrusts will make a turd look good. Just my opinion...

I voted for the Coys but agree with Kid that torque thrusts would look better.

I'd take a picture of the truck over to the photo shop forum along with a shot of the wheels and ask for some help there. They can put them on a truck and you will see what they look like.

Kid I think that you have a great point that I have forgot over time with the Hopster..you spend hours cleaning a polished wheel if you want them to look good. I really like the torque thrusts as well and I think that they are less expensive than the Coy's. I saw the Coy's at a car show in Logan, Utah overr the weekend on a 54 Chev..here is a pic.

Entouraguy..that's a great idea I had not noticed that on this site but will give it a try. One problem is that I don't know what the ride height of the truck will look like yet, but I still can get an idea of the wheel appearance.

I'm with the chrome for the exact reason. I had all my polished alum. engine bling (valve covers,air cleaner,pulleys,timing chain cover,TPI,etc.)chrome plated after I saw how easy it was to clean the chrome plated 16" alum. IROC wheels on my Camaro. I got chrome 22's on my wife's Tahoe and plenty of chrome on my Harley. It's easy to clean.

I like the torque thruster look better myself, it give it that classic hot rod look.

Hopster's , you can order them with different backspacing to fit your application!!

Well yesterday we spent installing the new rear end (posie 3:73) and I got a first look of the truck with the new Heidt front end and wheels and tires. I decided to go with the Coy's since I got a good price since they are here locally. I am running 17 inch wheels in the front and 18 inch in the rear. Now I am trying to decide on ride height. I kind of like how it is sitting in the photo.
