two tone factory paint job
I know there's a current thread on this and I've posted this Q within various threads over the months w/ no solid answers:
how exactly did the factory send out two tone trucks? was it always like the included picture with a band of white and a complete white top? |

or like this?
or was it like this-which 'Solver' just posted regarding. I'm thinking this is not factory as I"ve never seen the top like this, not confident the second picture (above) is factory b/c I don't see it around either. any chance these were short run two tone paint jobs or more likely one of these paint schemes came from one (1) of the many factory's making our trucks?

The top two are correct. The third one isn't, although it does look great like that. WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com

Thanks WES, it appears you know a lot about our trucks. Were there certain years the #2 option was availabe or was each factory geared up to paint a truck either way? what about 2wd vs 4wd, was the #2 option availabe on 4wd"s? I'm asking b/c I would like to do my truck in an original blue/white combo but would like for it to be original.-thanks, Paul

I certainly no expert but I think this paint scheme was 67-68 (even though this truck is a 70...)

paint
I guess i haven't seen a 69 or 70 with a factory white insert in between the chrome strips like the 71 or 72 in the last picture. I own a 70 4x4 that looks the same as the 4x4 shorty above. The glove box reads "white, hug orng, white". I also have a 70 shorty 2wd that reads "white hug orng". Maybe it was different from 2 to 4 wheel drive. In any event i think the windshield pillars and frames should be white like the roof.
