Door Jam Switches

Is there some trick to installing new door jam switches? First, I tried tightening them all the way to the base of the door jam but they just keep turning. Second, the driver side switch had two wires ( a white and a beige wire) which made tightening difficult, while the passenger just had a single white wire. Any suggestions?

I wonder if they're a bit undersized. My driver's side sticks every now and then so I bought a replacement (Wells brand IIRC). It will continue to turn when it should bottom out and snug up. On your wiring question, I can't help you there, because mine was a single wire (79 truck).

The single wire switch is simply to ground out and complete a circuit to turn on the courtesy lights. The dual wire switch can be used to turn on the courtesy and an alarm circuit or other secondary function. If you don't need it don't use it. They should however tighten up when installed.

What can I do to get them to tighten? Maybe throw a couple of washers in there?

I think you having the same problem I have, it that the threads are somewhat stripped. My drivers side door jamb switch is the same way, I have not tried this but I was going to try and mare up the threads abit to see if I could then tap it.
