Tire pics please...
Anyone running 255/60/15 on front with 275/60/15 rear ? I'm looking at this for my new TT II . Any pics would great

Those are my old Radial T/A's. 245/60-15 front, 275/60-15 rear. I can't get 255's to fit up front between the drop and the disc conversion (2.5" drop front, 4" rear, ECE 6 lug disc conversion)

Between the discs which widen the front track up a little bit and the drop, I was getting rubbing problems with the tires that were on there before - which were actually 245/70s or something, I don't remember, they were old and dryrotted T/As.
I say I can't go anything bigger than 245/60 because I have managed - only once or twice in three years, though - to get them to rub on the fender. (when the suspension is compressed). I would imagine that tolerances are close enough that even a 255/60 would be a little too wide up there. If/when I ever find the budget / time / desire to convert the truck to 5 lugs (just need, aside from rims/tires, 1971 rotors, rear drums, and rear axles, and the last two can be modded), I'll make sure to get a backspacing that allows me to run taller tires up front, though, just because I'd like to fill out the front wheelwells a bit more. The Yokohamas rock. ![]()

I should note that I don't know if factory disc trucks have as wide of a front track as converted trucks like mine, so you might be able to tuck some bigger rubber under the front.

Thanks for the great info. The reason I wanted to know is I just ordered 275/60 and 255/60 Yokohama's Avid S/T from Summit Racing maybe 20 min. ago. I beleave the disk convertion does add about 1-1.5 inches to the front.
I read a tire comparison and Yokohama's blew TA's off the chart and just about all other tires in the same cat. Thanks again for the pics and info...... John

Yeah, the Avid S/Ts were very highly rated, and every bit of my experience with them agrees. My truck was nearly undrivable in the rain with even new Radial T/As (between that and my too-stiff THM400, I got more than my share of scares around corners); right before I got the S/Ts, I got to deal with driving I-10 from Tucson to Phoenix in a downpour with nearly worn out T/As. Yeah, that was interesting, in that I-can't-go-faster-than-60-because-I'm-hydroplaning-like-a-mofo way. Ugh.
With tires like the S/T's out there, I have no idea why Radial T/As still sell, let alone for the premium price they get. They're not only one of the worse tires in their class, they're one of the most expensive, behind only Michelin, I believe. Oh, and if/when you take it to the track, hehe...the Avid S/Ts work GREAT at street tire pressures (I never bother changing them), just give them a quick scratch burnout to warm them up prior to your run. No waterbox.

255/60 fronts on 15x8's with 4" back space also 2 1/2" drop spindles and disc conversion, 275/60 rears with 4 1/2 back space on 15x10's and 3" drop spings. sofar no rubbing.

Not real clean or High-techie...but I am running 275/60 x 15 on stock 15x8 ralleys at all 4 corners I like how it looks and that they are all the same size. My spare will match someday.

I had BFG TAs on my camaro,couldn't drive in the rain.I put Pirelli tires on.They where cheaper and the car handled way better.They seem to have a softer compound because they wore faster.

This is 255/60/15 on a 7 inch rim and 275/60/15 on a 10 inch rim.

i don't have any probs with 255/60's up front. i am running an 82 front suspension, i dont know if the track width is the same or not i'm guessing it is
