P-l-a-s-m-a....
Plasma cutters are expensive huh?? I was hoping to find a $200 dollar setup that would cut through some frame relatively easy... Something i wouldnt use very often, but it seems like the cheapest plasma cutter i found was 800 bucks....
Anyone else have any hidden places??? |

I doubt if you will find a decent one that works for anywhere near $200.00. You never know though. You may check with some of the Matco, Snapon type guys and sometimes they take trade ins from shops. Thats where we got ours from. They also show up every now and then on Government Auctions at times

A Henrob gun will cost you about $600.00 but it will need oxy/ace to run. We got our cutter used for $750 with new tips and a year warranty from Matco. You may want to see if anyone you know might have one to borrow. Most people do not use them much.

I used one a while back and just eneded up renting it from sunbelt rentals for like 40 a day. If you aren't gonna use one much, that may be the route to go.

You may want to check with the local welding supply houses also.Lots of companies try to save a few bucks and wind up trading in the smaller cheaper one they bought for the one they should have gotten.

i saw some last year that was made by a company called speedway that had plasma cutters for about $250-275. i saw them at some traveling tool show. i believe you can look them up online. i don't know enough about plasma cutters to tell u if they are quality or not. i will look to see if i can find a link.

for less than a hundred fifty bucks you can get a decent sawzall plus a jigsaw and a whole bunch of blades and cut just about anything that needs cuttin on an automobile or pickup truck build
plasma is overrated unless its going into a vein

I bought mine from these folks. http://www.parkermetalworking.com/ So far I'm happy with it..... I built a new mower deck out of 10 gauge steel for my Kubota, and used it for cutting all of the steel pieces. I used it today to cut some 3/8" stuff with no problem, just like you cut it with a metal cutting saw only in 1/10th the time.... Just like a welder or cutting torch there is a learning curve so don't expect to be a pro with it out of the box cause it ain't gonna happen.... LockDoc
