gas tank gromet.
Removing gas tank for deadening mat install. Is there a secret to getting the filler neck thru the rubber gromet . is there a trick to reinstall? Thanks
It is fairly new so rot should not be an issue Don't want to have to replace if not needed. Gary |

Re: gas tank gromet.
Lots of silicone lubricant...
I've done it both with the grommet installed and without. It was easier to do without the grommet installed first. I lubed the grommet up good and pressed it into the hole with a plastic dowel so as not to damage the rubber. When I installed it with the grommet in already, I had to force it throught the hole. That's where the lube comes in. |

Lube always makes it slip in and out more easily...."nudge nudge wink wink"

Don't laugh, but K-Y jelly works great, and no silicone mess on the paint either.

The next couple of times, I installed the tank and then lid the grommet in from the outside. Now, I will add, it was a brand new grommet and therefore real soft. I eased it around the opening with a plastic piece. |
