mating the th350 adapter to a 700r4-doesn't quite fit
when I mate these two together, the adapter doesn't fit snugly into the 700r4. there is roughly an 1/8"-1/4" even space all the way around. I have the o-ring for it, but its not THAT thick. seems like the adapter is bottoming out on the inside of the tranny (part of the tranny).
has anyone else had that problem? trans was out of an 89 GMC van-but from what I've read it shouldn't be a problem. Will I have to do some grinding? if so, on what-the inside of the trans or the adapter? thanks, Paul |

tranny
I seem to remember reading here or on another site that somebody else doing this swap had to gind 1/8" off the outputshaft of the trans and 1/8" off the input of the t-case to get it to bolt up properly.
I will be rebuilding my 205 case sometime this week and then bolting it up to a 700r-4 so I am curious to see what others have to say about this.

Do you have the Advance Adapters shortened shaft in you 700? I have this in mine and had no problems at all mating the 2. I have another 4x4 700 and it has the regular shaft in it. This shaft is wayyy too long for the 350 adapter.

Iright now my tranny is in pieces, waiting to be put back together w/ goodies. I do have the adapter for it also. problem is the stock th350 to np205 adapter plate doesn't seat all the way into the 700r4. suppose I'll have to grind a little away.

www.offroaddesign.com does a good job explaining all this....the transmission output shaft in a stock 700R4 is to long for the two to mate....the output shaft from Advanced Adapters is needed.
