4x4 70 GMC, any things to look for?

I might be buying a 1970 GMC 4x4 to use as a daily. It's in really nice shape to look at, well maintained, but I don't know a lot about these trucks in terms of their 4x4 counterparts. Here's some specs:
-1970 GMC LWB 4x4
-4:10 gears front, 4:11 rear
-350 4bbl, mechanical choke, headers
-4 speed trans

I think that's it. I'm not sure about power steering, brakes, etc. yet, as I'm waiting for an email from the gentleman with more details. Are there any problem areas that these trucks were known to have as 4x4's, and is it feasible to use one as an everyday driver (majority winter). It will see some local, some highway, some offroad, etc.

Any tips/advice would be great, thanks!

Re: 4x4 70 GMC, any things to look for?

Only year open knuckle dana 4x4 drums. I hear the drums are near impossible to locate if you need them (3/4 ton variety). The good news is its a fairly easy swap to disks if need be.

Should be an NP205 xfer case

We're doing a 70 Chevy 3/4 ton 4x4 right now, making it into a GMC. We were lucky, though not on road since 99, the front drums and shoes looked to be almost new.

Don't expect to go 70 MPH on the highway, for me 60 is tops. (You can translate into Kilometers ) And it will ride pretty harsh on rough roads

Re: 4x4 70 GMC, any things to look for?

Drums are still in good shape he said (mentioned they were hard to find). Good news that discs are an easy swap (definitely good to know).

It is a 3/4 ton. 60mph is around 90-95kmph. Our roads around here are kinda rough as well. Due to the fact that I'm always in a hurry and our highways are pretty rough, I may have to think another direction.
