Unhappy TV Cable

I have just swapped on a reman Holley 4160 carb on my truck. Before I had an Edelbrock. I also switched the throttle and tv cable bracket. When I went to adjust the tv cable, I pushed the throttle wide open (engine off) and the cable ratched out all the way and then the plastic end snapped off. This same cable worked good with the Edelbrock carb and a stock bracket, but it now seems too short.
Which tv cables do you guys use with your Holley carbs and 700r-4 transmissions?

The one that I got witht eh kit from bowtie overdrives.
A tranny guy was telling me that one from a 350 should work.
Is it possible that you had too much tension on it?

I didn't do anything different as far as adjusting it, it was like it was just too short. Is there such a thing as an adjustable cable?

The one that I have on my 700r4 and on that I have on my TH350 are both adjustable.
The big black part (where it mounts) has a piece that you can push up from the bottom and pull it in or out to adjust when it will kick down. Once you have it where you want it, push the piece back down from the top.
Does that make sense?

Yea I know about adjusting the cable by pressing the D shaped button and sliding the plastic outer covering back and the letting it ratchet out when you go to wide open. The part I want to adjust is the piece that clips to the throttle lever. I belive that I saw one somewhere online but I cant find it again. It had a set screw that would lock the clip into position along the wire.
Do you get the idea?

I think I saw someone on here who had a TV cable with an adjustable end like that...

Personally, I've had great luck using GM parts. Think about it; the distance the TV cable has to go should only depend on the induction setup on the engine, regardless of what vehicle its in.

700r4 and holley and edelbrock carbs

o.k. i''ve run into the exact same thing.i have a rebuilt 357 with a holley on it.700r4 behind it.my cable wouldn't reach the throttle bracket on the carb.here's what you do go to PERFORMANCE AUTOMOTIVE AND TRANSMISSION website they have an illustration of the bracket you need.or you can call 1-888-201-2066 and ask for it.it's called a 700R4/220-R4 HOLLEY CARB ADAPTER price $31.00.good luck!

I highly recommend the Bowtie Overdrive's TV system! The amount of "throw" on an aftermarket carb isn't long enough to properly work the TV cable (and valve). I originally just hooked up a Lokar TV cable to the Edelbrock linkage. I wasn't getting proper downshifts and jsut didn't seem to have much power. After installing the kit it was like night and day. Check out their web site and read about it. They thoroughly explain why their kit works. I was a little hesitant at first and thought I was buying something I really didn't need, but I'm a believer no. Sorry if this sounds like a sales pitch, but I'm very impressed with their products. When you buy the TV system kit, they give you a pressure gauge so you can adjust it yourself.

Slammed I just got the TV kit from BTO about a month ago, there was no pressure gauge in it. I think its another $30. Not a bad investment tho. Im thinking about ordering one so that I can adjust it myself.
