Axel questions again
hello gentlemen and thank you once again for your patience with my non stop questions.
if i found a D44 out of a dodge or ford, is it really worth the effort to use them on my 83? what would i have to (genrally) to make em work on my truck?

Re: Axel questions again
Spring perches on a dodge are narrower than a chevy for one thing. Ford has the differential on the wrong side and if it is out of a half ton then it's gonna have a radius arm type suspension with coils so that's a no-go. For the simple reason that there are literally millions of D44's and 10's in JY's all over the country there is absolutely no reason why you would have to resort to modifying a dodge or ford axle for your chevy. Done and done.

Re: Axel questions again
If you get them for cheap or free, sell them or scrap them and keep looking for the correct axle. Much easier.
I had a couple Ford d44, sold one, and used the 4:11 gears out of the other for my Chevy.
