Rokcrln,
Actually...and I know you don't want to hear this....mine sat an inch or two HIGHER that my stock bench. Kinda' like "COMMAND SEATING". If you want to be lower in the saddle, maybe you should go with buddy buckets. I had a set of those in my truck also, and I sold them to a board member 'cause I was sitting too low & wanted something different.

Re: Tahoe seats in a 72 questions

I agree that the tahoe seats look great but the late model buckets fit great even with the fold down middle sest and you have the benefit if the intergrated seat belts, back and forward adjustment and a ride height about stock.

Re: Tahoe seats in a 72 questions

jcfoote60.........you did exactly what I plan to do. Since I don't have any seat belts the belts inthe seat will work for me. Everyone I've run into wants $400 to $500 for a set..........I guess I need to shop harder.

With the 40/20/40 buckets, what is the sacrificed leg room.....I am a tall guy, and pretty much can't afford to give up any leg room....but those buckets look very comfortable!

Re: Tahoe seats in a 72 questions

Hey 70chevyfreak, how hard was it to put your seats in. I found a set on Ebay but with out the center console which I would like to have but I dont' know if it would interfere with my floor shift. I have a B&M auto floor shifter.

Riden2low. Seats were easy to install, had to drill new holes and use 2x3x 1/8" backer plates with grade 8 bolts.I have a feeling that the console will interfere with the floor shifter but you can send me some measurments from the firewall to the center of the shifter and to the knob in fourth gear and I will see if it hits.

Re: Tahoe seats in a 72 questions

Kudos Putter! I would say that by the frequency of questions and repeated bumps on this thread, that it is headed for the hall of fame ( or at least a great summarized version put in the FAQ section)!!!

BTW - I see the crossed bars under the passenger side of the seat frame when it is flipped up, and they do not look stock (at least not on my 99). What are they for?

What if I was willing to lose the flip forward feature? Then is it possible to drop them?

Thanks!!

I went back and looked at some pics I have that were large enough to zoom into and it looks like the answer will be "no". The way the lever (for releasing the flip) is mounted, I can't see any way to make it work and still keep the plastic trim.
I tell you what I want to do on mine is to use the rear seat out of a 4-door full-size truck. I know that 2006/2007-classic have them (other years might be similar). The rear seat will still flip in sections, has cup holders, integrated center belt, and is VERY thin on the back....allowing more leg room for taller guys.

I just can't find a wrecked truck around here.
