Truck tilt column or Van tilt column?

I am looking at pulling a tilt column that appears to be factory stock. How can I be sure? The wiring harness is the original style horseshoe without an adapter, but can't that be swapped out? The connections under the hood appear to be factory...other than the tranny linkage. There is no SPID label, I already checked. Thanks.

Re: Truck tilt column or Van tilt column?

I adapted a Van tilt for my truck, to make a van tilt column work in one of our trucks the neutral start/backup light switch would have to me relocated up the column. If the column has not been modified near this switch it probaly a truck column. Also there is a plastic pin in the colapseable shaft that has to be drilled out to shorted that van column about 3 inches so that it will work in the a truck. If the pin is not drilled out it's a truck column. Hope you find this info helpful.

truck tilt. the short splined shaft is a good indicator, shaft on vans is about 4/6 inches long. truck about 1.5/2 inches long.

Thanks for your info...the neutral safety switch is in place and working. It does not look to me like it has been modified at all, looks like the factory location
