A little buckshot patina

Here is a pic of my 55 cab that i rescued from a farmers field. Looks like some hunters had a little fun with it. Plans are to do the usual rust repair.( cab corners, steps and lower hinge pockets) and then have cab blasted. I built the cab dolly out of some 2x2 square tubing that i had laying around. Dolly was designed so i could bolt cab to dolly at cab mounting points and be able to get to spot welds without any lower bracing. [IMG]http://[/IMG]

Probably some kids having a little target practice. Cab is only lightly peppered with buckshot on back of cab. Could have been alot worse. And for the price of cab and chassis (free) i will do a little extra body work!

I have one that has what looks like .22 holes thru the inner and outer cab panels in exact alignment with the lower position of the Easy Rider Rifle Rack in the back window. I'll bet it got their attention when it went off in that all-steel cab

Free is always a good price and it looks like the driver's door lines up pretty good still. How are the hinge pockets? Also be prepared for some areas that are gonna need some patches after the cab comes back from the blasters. I had some areas on my cab that looked solid and came back with some suprises.

Floor is good condition. Outer hinge pillars are solid. Inner hinge pillars and steps need replaced. Bracing behind hinge pillars needs replaced. And a few spots above windshield need work. All and all a pretty decent builder cab for having sat outside for 20+ years. Joel when are we going to see some rust repair? Pay very close attention to rust in front cab mounts. This is key to getting properly fitting doors.

My wife and I are getting ready to welcome the newest member to our family in a few weeks so there won't be much progress to report for a while on my 55. I'll have to live vicariously through the board members here and all the cool projects on the site for a bit. So keep the progress pics coming!
