Depends on who is buying it . I would leave it unpainted and let it go for less so the new owner can paint it his choice of colors .

Re: orange or black

with primer, whether it's black, gray, or maroon (or whatever color that is)

It can either be classified as a "rat rod," "shop truck," or even a paint ready project. If he does primer it, make sure he takes pics before it's primered/painted so the new owner can see what it looked like before. I'm always hesitant of a vehicle with a fresh paint job because you don't know what they are trying to hide.

Re: orange or black

i agree prime it out and sell it that way... black shows body work so orange would be the logical out of those choices but not everyone likes orange.. you could offer to paint it what color the people who buy it want when its paid in full

Re: orange or black

Well a cheap paintjob will look cheap unless you put in the time and effort to make it look good. I like orange, or red.. black shows way too much of the ripples, dents and waves.

So what if it took 4 trucks to make one, provided the parts used dont have rust on them, and you arent claiming its all original, big deal. It just means you did the leg work to find the stuff and assemble it. Just assemble it correctly and hot halfa$$ed..

I agree with the before pics, because nobody wants to find chicken wire, fiberglass, and bondo stuffed everywhere. Also that way the buyer can decide by the pics if they want to go to bare metal with it before paint. Otherwise an unknown would lead them to go bare metal just to find out whats under there and make sure none of it will rust out in 3 months.

With primer they can choose the color they want, and they dont have to take off cheap enamel if they want a base clear that will last a long time. If they just want a cheap beater, then a quick shot of enamel would work.

So a vote for primer with pics before you shoot it, and bare metal pics would be even better so they can see what the metal is like.. but I tend to go overboard sometimes...

Re: orange or black

I would say put it in all primer and offer to get it painted for them for some extra money if they want to do that. I don't like black either it just shows way too much!
