My heads and a quick question
I have the original 3932441 casting number heads in my truck right now. I know they were built from 69-70 they have 76cc chambers. My questions are what size are the valves and, how much are these heads worth. Thanks guys!

If they are 69-70 production and they have 76 cc chambers you can bet your bottom dollar thay have the 1.92/1.5 valves. Regular old lo po heads . Not worth much except for a core charge.

LO-PO heads? I guess 300 hp is LO-PO even as high as 340hp with 1.94 441s wasnt the Lt1(not the 370HP) fitted with 441s with 1.94s?

Do you guys think these things would be anygood with a set of domed pistons if I rebuild them or should I go with a set of vortecs? I haven't bought anything for my new motor yet. I have to pick up another whole engine this weekend finally! It's out of a mid 80's work truck. That is going to be the basis of my motor.

LT-1's had 461's . I assume your'e talking about the pre smog ones. The later ones were LT-1 in name only although they did have the cam until 73 . Even the lower rated version in the Z28 had 461's. Ive torn a couple apart back when thats what you got to start a hi performance motor with and thay all had 461's . They also had 64 cc chambers and screw in studs and guide plates and 2.02/1.6 valves and the "z-28" springs. The lower rated LT'1s didnt differ internally. Chevy "said" it was because of the more restrictive exhaust. Truth was the corvette always had to have the biggest HP number regardless of what the real output was.

Looking back on it now the second motor I ever built, I built for my 69 Camaro that I had in hi school and it was an original LT-1. I worshipped on the alter of Bill Jenkins and thats what he said to get so I got it. The motor came out of a rolled 70 Z28 and I bought it for the ripe sum of $500 back in 1981 out of a junkyard in Greenville, South Carolina. It had 64 cc 461 heads, guide plates , screw in studs, a steel crank, 4 bolt mains, a factory windage tray , pink rods and forged domed pistons. I changed the pistons to flattops but didnt bore it except to hone the cylinders and I paid a guy $400 to port the heads. I used a crane cam .454 on the lift and 270 or something like that on the duration. With the 3.31 gears I had in the 12 bolt posi it would smoke the tires as long as I felt like it. I drove that car from the time I was 16 until 6 months before I joined the army 3 years later. I traded it for a 70 SS 454 El Camino and sold it before I went into the army like a DUMBASS!!!

Z28/Lt1.....there were a few castings, but the one I remember were a 492 straight plug. 66 cc chambers(fact unshroud cut on the intake side of the chamber), screw in studs, guide plates, 2.02/1.6 valves......370hp 350, & 290 hp 302.....damn nice set of castings! The 441s are not a bad casting, & will make decent power......as with all the old GM stuff, the aftermarket will blow them out of the water......it all depends on budjet, & or how much power you want. Dollar for dollar, its cheaper to go aftermarket vs porting old iron...........crazyL

All else being equal, closed chamber heads are worth 20 hp even after equalizing compression.
Easy to tell if you have factory 2.02/1.60 valves in an accessory bolt hole head. It will have screw in studs and guideplates. I have studs and guidleplates on the Jimmy, but the little valves. Obviously not factory.
