WTB lower fender mount backing plate
Don't have a picture, but I need the piece on my 72 that bolts to the lower part of the cab (bottom of the pillar where the big hole is) and backs the bolt that attaches the lower part of the fender. Hope that makes sense. I really need the passenger side, but they are close enough that eitehr side would work.

Re: WTB lower fender mount backing plate
no, I'm looking for the piece that bolts to the cab from the other side. mayeb I need to post a picture. it's 3" long or so, with two bolt bolts that bolt it to the cab and then one more hole that matches the hole on the lower part of the A pillar.

Re: WTB lower fender mount backing plate
that's not a seperate piece....that's supposed to be part of your floor.
You need an outer floor Last edited by jb4short; 09-08-2008 at 04:34 PM. |

Re: WTB lower fender mount backing plate
no, this piece bolts to the floor piece. It bolts to the front pilalr repair piece. my 68 does not have this piece so I think it's only on later years; 72 for sure. the piece marked in red.

I don't have one to sell you but here is a better picture of the piece you are looking for anyway.

Re: WTB lower fender mount backing plate
Mine were so shot out I didn't know they were supposed to be there...LOL
Do people generally replace these? Seems like they'd all rust...may be something to look at making. Last edited by jb4short; 09-09-2008 at 12:57 PM. |

Re: WTB lower fender mount backing plate
well, my 68 GMC doesn't have em, so it must be a later thing, but I was hoping to get one to match. problem with fabbing one is that the big hole is tapered to match the lower part of the pillar.

Re: WTB lower fender mount backing plate
You can live without them, not all years had them anyway...
If that's your floor then I would look into that outer cab patch from Trip-pro though...
