1972 GMC Original Engine Tranny and T-case
I pulled this assembly out of my 1972 GMC 4x4 Sierra Grande 3/4 ton dually. It is the exact same engine, tranny and t-case that came in the truck when new. All three have been rebuilt. The engine most recently. The engine was ran on Propane after the rebuild. I removed the propane stuff and have it in a box. I installed a Holley 650 on it to drive it around for about a year. (After that, I installed a Cummins)
I had the package priced for $900 on a 4x4 forum but everybody wanted the NP205 and Adaptor to the 350 tranny. So WIW? I can get the engine block numbers and head number if anybody is doing a full blown resto and wants them. My pics are 113kb and 112kb (too big), I'll resize them and post them up. |

I think that's a fair price myself...

Re: 1972 GMC Original Engine Tranny and T-case
On the drivers side of the engine block behind the head it has cast in it;
24GM 3970010 Is that the right number or should I be looking in a different place? |

Re: 1972 GMC Original Engine Tranny and T-case
3970010 is just a basic 350 casting number, used on almost every 350 you'll find. there is another number that can tell you more though, called the suffix code. it will be on a little "pad" on the passanger side, right behind where the water pump bolts on. there will be 2 sets of stamped numbers. you will need the last 3 numbers/letters off the taller set of numbers

I see used TH350/NP205 combos go for $300.I think you`re inline with the total package cost.
