Help Wanted
Is there anyone out there that can do a great job of installing new rubber seals and track into a pair of wing windows? I don't have the experience with blind rivets. Someone that has done many would likely do a much better job.
Thanks! |

Re: Help Wanted
I've done it and won't do it again, it really takes two people, one to hold everything together and one to smash the rivets

Re: Help Wanted
If I can do it you can.The division bar channel anyway.I used a small spacer made of copper tubing.I used regular pop rivets and put the spacer over the rod of the rivet.I lined everything up and made sure the rivet was seated in the bottom of the new felt and that the felt was in the bottom of the channel. Then I just crimped the rivet.
I haven't tried the rubbers yet.

Re: Help Wanted
The single most difficult thing on the truck to do. And the rubbers don't want to make it easy. Would rather get in a bar fight than try another set.

Re: Help Wanted
Just finished mine last week. Used the blind rivets. The windows turned out near perfect, but it is a 2 person job and by far, the most difficult task on this rebuild, and it's a frame off. Would not do it again!
With that being said, Dantip, go for it, you can do it. take your time and keep your cool. Good luck.

Re: Help Wanted
Thanks for the encouragement! I did this once years ago and I must be having bad flashbacks. If no one offers this service I will need to find a willing accompolis and at least a 12-pack and go for it.
Any other technical advice? |

Re: Help Wanted
Almost the entire reason I went with 1 piece windows on my 68.... Between that and the money to rechrome the frames.....

Re: Help Wanted
I just did a test fit fith my new repro vent window assemblies, I found to my amazement the fit perfectly. I intend to practice the installation with my cab in primer so when the new paint is on I won't mess it up.
It's better to rebuild originals but the repros are pretty damn good just sos ya know.
