Just curious if anyone has ever done this, or seen it done? I'm considering doing it ,but don't know if it's worth the time and money.

SactoJim did his but not sure which product he used. Maybe he will chime in. He said it really helped. I've been curious if the glue would fail over time with all that heat or not. I'd love to do it if it will hold up long term.

I wasn't sure if he used dynamat ,or if that was some kind of heat shield.

Used the same stuff that comes in rolls that you can use under your carpet (foil on one side).

Wasn't the easiest thing to accomplish, but turned out pretty good. I used some large paper to cut out a template and then used 3M hoodliner spray adhesive. I also fabbed up a piece of aluminum bar with a little bow in it and ran it down the center hood rib to make sure it stayed and for a nicer appearance.

I cut the liner in two pieces and spliced it under one of the hood braces and ran it completely under the other. Worked real well and the hood skin does not wobble at all and gave the hood a reall quality thud when shutting it. These little blowers also rattle at idle because of the gear lash and the insulation made the sounds of the motor a lot less noticeable from the outside.

2500 miles and no sags!

You can use a spray on type of liner such as lizard skin.

Thanks for the info Sacto Jim. I was wondering if you used the same stuff that went under your carpet, or if it was something different. I'll probably do the same thing you did, since I am planning on adding the same blower you currently have.

on my last car I used dynamat extreme, and then used their hood liner product. My thought was to keep the noise out, and keep the heat away from the paint on the hood. I used some 3m general spray adhesive on the painted metal, and then applied the dynamat. more spray adhesive, and then the hood liner. I then ( I am anal ) went to the local stereo store, and bought some black carpet, and cut it out to hide the dynamat product. The car was a 67 ss Chevelle.

Must have added a 100 lbs to that hood.....did you have to upgrade the hood springs!!?....kidding.

Bet it was quiet though!

well the underside of the Chevelle hood had about 6 small places to do this. Not like our trucks where you could do the whole underside. As far as quiet? as quiet as a zz502 with headers, and flomasters could be!!

I didn't think of that......and besides, some things are just best left un-muffled!
