Has anyone else had problems installing 67 door handles?
So, I recently acquired some door handles for my 67 Chevy C-10, and I seem to have run into some installation problems. They don't seem to line up properly, and I'm having quite a difficult time installing them. Has anyone else ran into this problem?

Re: Has anyone else had problems installing 67 door handles?
Welcome to the wonderful world of '67! '67 actually had a different door handle than '68-'72. The handle is the same EXCEPT for the screw holes, which are at a different angle. The reinforcement plate in the door that the handle screws go through is different too. There are a couple of ways around this. You can enlarge the holes in your doors and use longer screws, put studs in the handles and bend them, or find some original '67 handles.

I have the same thing with my 68 GMC and the doors were original to the truck.

It is possible that the door handle design changed after the '68 came out.

67 doors are built different inside. 68-72 handles do no work on 67 doors, with out modifing.

Re: Has anyone else had problems installing 67 door handles?
Funny I was just gonna mention this in a new thread and came upon this one. After I bought a handle from a board member (gunkis84, and it was perfect), I tried to install it and that's when I noticed the difference. The mounting screws came strait out of the handle, and my original was at an angle. My doors are the originals and the original handles. So I guess the question is which are my handles? the 67 early 68 type, or the later style? I don't know which..Shame too, cause I had to repair mine and the one I bought is in better shape..

Re: Has anyone else had problems installing 67 door handles?
The handles look the same, best i remember. The 67 doors have brackets welded inside doors. They make the screws go into door handles at a different angle than newer ones. I am sure some of the 68 were like the 67s. There are some little divets around bolt hole area on the outer door skins on 67s. The others are flat around holes. Hope this helps. I had a truck in final paint years ago. I had to go in and cut the bracket out to make it work. I got lucky with die-grinder and did not burn paint.
Good luck
