new lower stance, front shock mounts ;)
A couple months ago I installed the bags on Hollywood, and like most the bags rubbed the lower arms. So I set out to find some stock lowers and make the necessary mods to eliminate the interference as well get a little lower. Job is done, minus some thin Energy Suspension bumpstops that should arrive tomorrow.
the gratuitous "old school" rendering the lower arms - which ended up looking pink, I was going for red oxide, oh well. 5/16" thick tubing sunk in the stock lower arms. and the new upper shock mounts the upper shock mounts may look odd, and I cant say I have seen anyone else go the route I did. Hollywood was converted to a NP435 trans out of a 94' Chevy truck, and it also inherited the hydraulic clutch. SO...the bracket that attaches to the top of the frame was no longer needed. Looked like a good spot for a new adjustable upper shock mount...we'll see how it works out. Enjoy! |

Re: new lower stance, front shock mounts ;)
I'm fairly certain those are the upper mounts. Looks like they would bolt to the top of the frame rail & offer three possible height options.

Re: new lower stance, front shock mounts ;)
scoti is correct, those are the upper mounts. After looking over the situation I decided to make new upper mounts as the hole in the frame often gets worn and needs repair. The lower mounting location is still in the stock location on the lower arm.
loving the new stance and look, but of course there is always something to fix so now the truck isnt holding a charge very well |

Re: new lower stance, front shock mounts ;)
thanks for the compliments guys, much appreciated. The arms were cut with a hand plasma, but quite a bit of time was put into making everything fit right. I am a TIG welder and fabricator by trade, so that helps keep the fab side of things clean and pretty
