rear end help
ok 67 chevy step side blown rear end it is going to get a 350 not to beefed up but i need a rear end that can handel the power of a 350 and not snap but i still want to role down the highway what should i go with???????????

Rear ends don't generally break under stock horsepower You just need to change the gears to match the use of the truck.

Is it a regular 12 bolt?
If so it should handle any abuse a 350 can dish out. As for rebuilding get a set of gears, a quality posi unit, ( i bought an Eaton) and a master rebuild kit and put it together or pay someone to set the gears up for you. You should be able to buy all that and pay for setup for around $800 to $1000. Check the axel bearings while you are there also.

I built mine up with Moser axles, Eaton posi, Richmond 4.10s and a good rebuild kit. thats pretty much bullet proof even on slicks

the same rears were used regardles of inline, V-6, small block, or big block... it'll handle a 350. I've seen stock peg leg 12 bolts hold up to a LWB truck in the high 12's in the quarter.
