Well the 72 is now at our new house at the farm. I took tons of pics. Inluding pics of the SPID of the tow rig and finally one of our 72. I didnt know that the C-70's had 2 SPID's.

Here are all the pics.

Well I'll post em when photobucket is fixed.

The SPID is a break out of all the codes from the factory, and can be found on the inside of the glove box lid. It will tell you what was added on from the factory, tilt, cst, cheyenne,.... Kind of like the window sticker in today's vehicles.

Re: Got the truck moved today!

SPID
Service Parts IDentification.
GM uses them to this day, stuck somewhere on the car. But now it's all in code.
If the SPID gets full of options, then the assembly line was directed to add the remaining options on one half of the second spid, and then cut it in half.
I'm interested to see what you got there Brad.

Hopefully Photobucket works now.

The C-70

We had no idea that the tail shaft was out. We knew the drive shaft was, so now we have to find a tail shaft.

Got better shots of the rust we have.

Re: Got the truck moved today!

Put some jackstands under it and then lower them a notch or two at a time.

Re: Got the truck moved today!

Just an FYI
NEVER..EVER get under a truck on cinder blocks, bricks, or any thing of the sort. They can crumble with out notice and drop the vehical on you.
I am gussing that they are there for unloading purposes, but i thought i would just say it just in case.

Re: Got the truck moved today!

It always feels good to get one home, doesn't it?

I see the SPID says 127" wheelbase (I always have a hard time telling swb from lwb in pics w/ no bed on) so it's a longbed, most likely a fleet? Do you have a bed for it, or is that all there is?

PLEASE get it down off those blocks! If you have a Northern Tool nearby, they have some pretty nice jack stands for $19.99 for the pair. I got 4 of the double locking ones ($24.99/pr) for around $54 or so w/ tax. Also be careful using jack stands on dirt. I set the feet on some short 2x4's, 2x6, etc, just to keep the feet from sinking.

Re: Got the truck moved today!

Everybody is allowed one "fatal mistake" ---- sometimes if you're lucky, you get to have more than one.

Don't make crawling under that truck on concrete blocks become yours.

Ps: mine wasn't that, but I've got a pretty good limp from what was (one of) mine.

Made me a LOT more careful.

Re: Got the truck moved today!

Yeah, dont plan on me getting under it.

We will put a block under our jack, lower it on the single blocks. Then jack it up with out the block, then on the ground.

It is a longfleet. I have a build thread on it. "72' O'Blue"

We will most likely take it down tomorrow, because it is gonna rain. It'll fall if it rains.

The bed will either be replaced or fixed.
