Disk brake removal...
I used the forum search trying to find the answer with no success..
Ok...i have a 69 and The brake drums have never been off....Normally you should just able to "finesse" the drums off...but the won't budge...Are they fastened in anyway....Think I read somewhere about rivets having to be grinded off....any help appreciated..

I would try screwing the adjuster all the way in. Sometimes old drums get a wear ridge right at the edge of the drum that will not allow the drum to clear the shoes. If that doesn't work it is probably the center of the drum rusted to the axle flange. That can be as easy as smacking it with a hammer or as hard as serious heat - depending on the rust.

my dad has a '63 corvette w/ 4 wheel drums and a BFH was the only way we removed the drums, just be sure you move around the drum and not hit in one spot, but I am guessing you already knoew this.

If the factory rivets are still in, you'll have to remove them. You grind the heads flush with the drum and drive them thru. Beware they are a tight fit in the hole. You could try taking the castle nut off the spindle and pulling the drum and spindle at the same time.

there is definatly possitives for having a truck that has never been really worked on other than normal maintenance.....removing bolts for the first time in 39 years is not one of them..

My truck is as stubborn as a woman in a mall.....
Last week I put a new hub and bearings in my 04' Srt-4....no problem...maybe 3 hours tops....I pretty much am doing the same install (drop spindles/disk brakes)....i thought I was in the clear once I got the drum off....lower ball joint bolt feels like its friggen welded to the spindle....o Just venting......
