crossmember /'s

Hello, i have removed the cab on the 67 to get ready for the front crossmember and rearend swap. I noticed that the PO rigged a AT crossmember in place. I will put the AT crossmember from the parts truck that originally had a BB. I noticed a bracket on the top of the trailing arm crossmember, is something suppose to be connected to it? i looked at the parts truck and it has a different bracket for the 2-piece driveshaft. I also notice that some rivets were cut on and looks like something was removed, does anyone know what was removed. Thanks .

Re: crossmember /'s

that used to have a 2 piece drive shaft. the bracket is for the hanger bearing.
as far as swapping to a correct Xmember, will the exhaust clear?

those cut rivets must be toward the firewall area of the frame. the manual tranny trucks had a cross member there. the bell housing mounted to it.

Re: crossmember /'s

Thanks 68 c15, i didnt even think about a manual crossmember, but thats what was removed, i will remove the rivets to clean it up. I was thinking of redoing the exhaust as the PO welded the headers to the exhaust tubing, and was thinking of installing the original AT crossmember from the parts truck since i have one . The AT crossmember that is in there now does not line up with the holes in the frame, so i could drill two holes and use grade 8 hardware to install. Any suggestions, or opinions are greatly appreciated.

Re: crossmember /'s

personally I think I would leave that one in there. nice and simple. as long as the driveline angles are good and the mount doesnt flop around all is good. you dont really need grade 8. grade 5 will be fine.
