Bed strip bolts

Okay, I have searched thru all our trucks and came up with enough good bed strips to redo the bed in my 67.
As you may know the original bolts have a spline on the shank, under a rounded head. They are not carriage bolts (like I thought). The holes in the original strips are round, not square.
Where can i get the splined ones? Mar K carries regular carriage bolts, not the splined ones.

Try Classic Heartbeat...Wes may have an answer for you.

I always thought they were 1/4"-20 carriage bolts. Good Luck

Re: Bed strip bolts

Guess I'll contact Mar K, I was going by their online catalog.
My angle strips (the ones that run around the perimeter) are regular carriage bolts with the square shoulder under a rounded head. My bed strips that hold the boards down are the ones that have round holes in them?????
I emailed Classic yesterday, but haven't heard back from them yet.
I did contact a local bolt supply. They call them spline neck bolts. They don't stock them, but are going to check on availability.
I wind up doing this in the the night time when most places are closed.

Re: Bed strip bolts

O.k. sorry , i got confused . I bought the strips from Mar-K and they have square holes . I also bought the bolt kit from them . I should have bought the angle strips around the perimeter of the bed new and replaced them before paint , live and learn . Anyway i bought the angle strip covers and they have to be drilled to match the existing holes . that's where the round head , round locking style bolts came in .

Lee
try these guys http://nationalbolt.thomasnet.com/vi...1047&forward=1

they're ribbing doesn't seem to go as far as original bolts (my camera sucks), but you only need ribbing to go as far as bed strip thickness. You might have some problems with new bolts spinning when you tighten them up because the original bolts were "pressed" into a smaller diameter hole, you can see the huge "pucker" on the backside of your strips.

Re: Bed strip bolts

You are right, bigmac68. We do have ribbed neck bolts.

You didn't find them on the website because this particular part is one we have listed by part number only. I will see about fixing that so they are available under the "parts available" list.
1/4-20 X 1 1/4 Part # 100479 in Steel are .45 each
1/4-20 X 1 1/4 Part # 100501 in Unpolished Stainless are 1.00 each
1/4-20 X 1 1/4 Part # 100500 in Polished Stainless are 1.25 each

You can put in these part numbers and order at www.mar-k.com/catalog
Hope that helps.
