Interior Work on '87 Shortbed
I yanked out the thrashed seat and made one fit from an '88-up parts truck. While I was at it, I put in carpet, door sills, and a Dash Top cover. The old dash was pretty bad. Not much left to glue the cover to.
I'm waiting for my door panel paint, Hurricane Ike slapped the Gulf Coast like Tina, no mail service yet. The seat had a saddle seat cover on it. Must have been put on the day they bought the truck, the upholstery is great, but the truck was junk. There were three hardhats behind the seat, it was obviously a work truck. The parts truck had a tilt column in it as well. I'll be swapping that in sooner or later. |

Re: Interior Work on '87 Shortbed
Man that cover sure helped the dash out... It looks great in the pictures.
Like you said, the seat also looks like new. You're on your way, a great job! God Bless, Terry |

Re: Interior Work on '87 Shortbed
Nice! Where did you get the dash cover? Does it just lay on top of the factory dash?

Re: Interior Work on '87 Shortbed
I got it from LMC. It silicones over the old pad. It is made in the USA, and is a really nice piece. Only $99 instead of nearly $500 for a new pad.

Re: Interior Work on '87 Shortbed
That is a huge improvement. Now spend some time cleaning and dyeing the other parts and pieces and it will look like new again.

Re: Interior Work on '87 Shortbed
I ordered the dye, but Hurricane Ike has UPS delayed. I have no power for lights to see what I'm doing anyway. Just concentrating on working to pay for this storm mess, and getting my yard back in order.

Re: Interior Work on '87 Shortbed
Dyed my door panels and put on new arm rests. The dye worked really good, much better that I thought it would.
Not a perfect match, but a Hell of an improvement. |

Re: Interior Work on '87 Shortbed
I got the dye from the LMC Truck.
http://www.lmctruck.com/ICATALOG/CC/full.aspx?Page=109 I wiped it down with the prep/cleaner(lots of that left over), then sprayed with several light coats, used a whole can for two door panels. I didn't use the clear coat. I may sand the top of the door panels better(the part where your arm would rest with the window down) and re-dye just that area; I sanded it just enough to get the flaking plastic off, there are some scratches I didn't notice until we sprayed the panels. Re: Interior Work on '87 Shortbed
Looks real good. I also have a cover on mine. but it sat out in the texas sun alittle to long and got warped. The previous owner of my truck tried to dye the door panals but i think he used spray paint..... I just wrapped them in carpet. it is kind of funy but works. To dye panels well spend the time and do the prep and clean right. It will pay of in the end.
yours looks really good
