Trucks to be saved

At the place I work we dismantle trucks...We have two trucks that are either 2 or 5 ton,not real sure. One looks to be late 40's early 50's,the other is even older, with the butter fly hood.the cabs seem to be in really good shape, and all original. The boss was going to have me scrap them, but I talked him out of it.(I wanted to try here first). We are located in northern california and transportation could be arranged.I can get some pics If anyone would be interested.I'm sure they could be taken for next to nothing$.I'd hate to see them scrapped.Let me know,William

Re: Trucks to be saved

If the cabs are in good shape they should fit on a half or 3/4 ton chassis although the front fenders are different in that they have much larger wheel openings.

There are some guys who are really into the big trucks though.

You'd definitely get a better response with pictures.

Re: Trucks to be saved

I've got a friend in Oregon that is taking the big trucks (55-59) and putting them of 78-82 4WD dually frames and running gear.

OP please post some pics of them, I might be interested in the Butterfly one.

After today's DJIA meltdown next-to-nothing would probably equal 100 shares of anything banking related.

Sorry couldn't resist

Re: Trucks to be saved

yes please post some pics. i am pretty interested also. i absolutely hate to see anything old and cool (or really even just old) get scrapped. they can never be made again, and even if they aren't cool yet, someone can do something cool with them.
