x over pipe...crap, to music!
i just did a buck of upgrades, heads, cam...ect. i am happy with those, however there was one side effect. a very sharp cracking sound to the exhaust. i have heard this sound before and never have liked it. not sure how to describe it other that that, its a very snappy, cracking sound under acceleration....yuck, i was pissed.
as a last resort, i stopped by my favorite Mexican muffler shop (i love these guys) and had them put a x over pipe and a hanger on....$25 and 15 minutes later i was ready to go. to my absolute joy, the x over pipe completely took that sound away! now its music to my ears again.. so, if you don’t like the sound of your pipes, you may just need a x over! weehoo

That noise is a red neck mating call.

Re: x over pipe...crap, to music!
I agree, my old exhaust system did that. Headers, and turbo mufflers.
Now with Rams and Flowmasters, with the x-over pipe the truck sounds much better.

Headers have that pinging sound - I prefer the ram horns as well.
