Fenderwell Headers!!!

I've searched the board and cant find anybody using a fenderwell header. My truck will sit pretty low. I know that I could run a shorty header, but I love the fact that with a fenderwell header I wont have to work around exhaust when I'm wrenching on my starter or transmission, they have awesome ground clearance...and they look kick ass. I cant find a single manufacturer that makes them for our trucks but I was wondering if anyone successfuly fitted a pair for maybe a Chevy II/ Nova or '55 on our trucks. I have quite a bit of experience building headers but trust me, sometimes its just worth the money to buy them!!!

Re: Fenderwell Headers!!!

My intended plan is to run them,,, the only place other than the link above I have been able to find them for a big block is Speedway.

I'm probably going to have to fab my own because I'm not seeing anything that clears the factory steering.

Oh well just a reason to spend time in the garage.

Re: Fenderwell Headers!!!

The ones Speedway sells can be bought in plain steel, instead of the aluma coat. So I may buy a set of those and modify them instead of building from scratch, and then send them off to be coated.

Does powder coating hold well on headers? If not I'll have to find someone to aluma coat them inside and out.

Re: Fenderwell Headers!!!

powdercoat will come off the headers. the high temp spray will work but unless you coat the whole thing inside and out, which is impossible, it too will spot away over time. ceramic/thermal coat them, or chrome, which will turn colors on ya, or stainless which will have the same hot blue effect.

Re: Fenderwell Headers!!!

With the high temp, can you just re-shoot the spots when they appear, or do you have to sand them down and repaint the whole? Also, do you use primer or a rust inhibitor on them?
