cabs
I'm in looking for a new cab for my truck and was wondering what to watch out for. I just looked at a really nice complete 72, but it had a lot of rust (NC pickup) I know about cab corners, rockers and cab supports, but I've heard about rust in the windshield and cowl areas too. Anyone have pictures of that so I know what to watch out for? Also,, at what point do you consider them too far gone?
Thanks,

Re: what is too far gone...
I think, primarily, what you need to consider is your finances and expertise when it comes to this part. I've done bodywork but don't consider myself an expert on this. Mostly what I've done is dent repair and replacing rocker panels. So, in my case, I look first to make sure that the rust areas are repairable or patch panels are available. I personally will not buy any truck or cab that has rust in the windshield area. A lot of this rust is caused by neglect of the drip rail caulking and by the time you see it, it has done too much internal, unseen damage --and there's no patch panels available. |
