Add On Cruise Control

I would like to put cruise on my shortbed but cant find an original unit and i dont wanna pay the big bux for an NOS one. I know of an aftermarket one in the box thats the same era as our trucks. Has anybody done this? Any tips or pointers? Is there an easier way to do it by using GM parts off a newer vehicle? Thanks in advance.

Re: Add On Cruise Control

I bought an audiovox unit from JCWhitney for less than $100. I use it all the time. You can set it up to read from your distributor if you have a manual tranny (no slip in a torque converter) or have a magnet on your driveshaft with a pickup coil hanging off the truck if you have an auto. I love it.

I suppose I should add I dont' work for audiovox or JCWhitney, etc.
