Body parts
Well i will be beginning my yard crawl for body parts for my beater. I need atleast one door and one fender. My truck is an 82', as far as i understand i can get 81-87 fenders? and any doors, from either a suburban or a truck. IS this true? And finally just out of curiosity are the beds all the same?

Re: Body parts
Hello I had a 82 and yep the fenders from a 81-87 are fine, I had fenders from a 85 ,and doors from a 79 truck on mine, I used the door panels and stuff from the 79 cause they were there and in good shape. I dont know about a sub. I never got any parts from one so I am not sure hope it helps

Re: Body parts
yes the doors from a sub will work also, the beds on the 73-79 have a round hole for a gas cap and the 81-87 have square gas doors but they will bolt on to either or.

Re: Body parts
Burb, Blazer, Truck doors are the same. 73-76 doors will fit, but they are different. The door panels are smaller and no provision for power windows.

Re: Body parts
It may be hard to find a decent passenger side where you are. I gave up trying to locate one in Texas so I bought a new one from Chris (Captkaos). If you want to consider that option, I can attest that the quality is awesome.

Re: Body parts
You can also use the doors off a C60/65/70/75 truck. I'll let you know about the trest of the cab when I strip mine down.

Re: Body parts
You can't use the C60-up doors, they have a "slice" missing for the fender clearnace.

Re: Body parts
Thanks for all the help guys. Normally i would consider a new door but when i say beater i mean beater, the truck was 500 bucks and will probably only be driven in the fall and winter starting next year. I plan on getting new parts if i can find them cheap and bonding what cannot be cheaply or easily repaired, then rolling on some Tremclad.
See what i mean? Just not worth much. |

Re: Body parts

Re: Body parts
That was the plan when i bought it, but i can't stand to think something i own is in that state of neglect. If i hide it it will make me feel better about it and who knows maybe i will drive it longer and saves some gas over the 70' the 6.2's are supposedly good on gas.
