Re: what cam should I get?

Any good cam company will have tech support. They will ask
engine.intended use, weight of vehicle.tranny, gear ratio, heads, tire size, and probably about a dozen other questions. All this info helps them give you a good recommendation. The more info you give the happier you will be with the results.Remember to break it in exactly according to the instructions.

Re: what cam should I get?

first thing you need to do is get all your specs //tire sze gear ratio engine specs compression type of heads valve size springs etc you also need the weight of the vehicle//then you need a realistic assessment of how the vehicle will be used and how much you have to spend

after getting all that stuff written down call a cam hotline or two and talk to the cam guys to find what they have available for your needs and budget// crane and compcams are 2of the better tech lines that i've talked to

Re: what cam should I get?

If your just looking for something a tad better than stock I wouldn't even bother calling anyone up trying to get some perfect cam for your truck. If you were going all out race then yeah call em up and get some advice or possibly a custom cam but in your case I would personally go with the Edelbrock performer cam or something compareable. Everyone will have their own opinion but i've got one of these and I think it runs great in an otherwise stock motor. I almost went bigger but i'm really glad I didn't. Between the stock cam and this one, I noticed a big difference.

First I'm glad you have had great luck I have had 6 of them go flat in 5 motors and I used all comp assembly lube and break in add. in the oil . When I called them they said since I wasn't a profesional engine builder they were going to do nothing . So that's my experience maybe I just have bad luck . I'm not saying comp is bad only that I won't use them again based on past experience and the customer service sucks !! I now use Isky and have had zero problems. My 2 cents

Re: what cam should I get?

I've run Comp Cams in many motors with zero proplems, and have never had to call the CS to complain. On a side note, I am planing a cam/head/intake upgrade on a 07 C6 LS3 from Lingenfelter (GT11). Guess who does the cam? Comp Cams... Not pickin an argument here, just makin a point that my experience has been all positive and still a customer.
Really, brand loyalty all aside... DO YOUR RESEARCH. In my case I have had good experiences, and I like the grind ratio's that Comp cam's offer it's customers.
I remember when Erson cam's got a ton of bad press about being of poor quality, I am here to tell you that I am still running an Erson TQ20 cam after almost 15 years of hard driving.
Just thowin in my .02
