I'm pretty sure the Corvette heads would be the 2.02 valves. Which is good. Anything before 69 didn't have accessory holes. Thats a pain. Performance wise they are good H.P. heads for the money. I would give that for them if they were on the up and up.

be sure to get the casting numbers off them first. The older heads don't have accessory holes so you can't bolt up your alternator. They will flow better than the stock heads on your crate motor but will also bump your compression up by about 1 full point, and you'll have to run premium fuel. Also, make sure they really do have all new components, including hardened valve seats. If they don't, I'd pass on them.

Watch the casting numbers closely there were some .......... that were not all that great.
The 461 castings were great 62cc chamber 160cc intakes and 64 exhaust.
461X castings had 62cc chambers and 172cc intakes and 64cc exhausts
462 castings had a 64cc chamber and rough cast ports they are the most common castings.
292 castings had 64cc chambers but small valves, mostly found on big trucks
291 castings had 64 cc chambers and have rough cast ports mostly found on camaros
186 casting had 64 cc chambers and flowed nice, could be had with big valves and accessory holes
187 castings same as 186
492 castings are the ones to run, came on the 1970 LT-1 vettes and camaros, they had big valves some had angle plugs.
916 castings were 72 LT-1 castings, big valves and factory screw in studs.

IMO If they need to be rebuilt you could buy a new set of RHS, GM, World, etc that would out flow those for less money. I think the days of rebuilding camel backs are done if you have to pay a machine shop to do it.

Re: Camelhump Heads

Some camelhump heads had 1.94 valves.I believe they have a 292 casting number. The casting #'s 461 or 462 are the good heads, but like mentioned before if the don't have the new components I'd pass. Especially the hardened valve seats. You'll burn'em up with the unleaded gas, if they don't have the hardened valve seats.
Hey PRIMERED JUNK. Do you have any info on the O41's. 69 model are the ones I have.

Re: Camelhump Heads

camel hump, or double hump heads.... the name doesn't mean much anymore. People who have no clue what they have will call anything by that name.
Get the casting numbers and then see what they are.
Personally, if they are worth anything, i would buy them just to sell and fund a set of heads that are worth putting on.

Re: Camelhump Heads

The heads that are avalible now are alot better than hump heads. If they have acc. holes thats a decent price but depending on whats been done to them as said earlier Hardened seats, valve guides, valves etc.. There are other options out there for not much more money.

Re: Camelhump Heads

Get the heads. There's plenty of folks looking for 202's.

PS--you are getting very close to a 4 sale ad...
Get your "blue" and sell them.

Not only is it close to a FS post BUT it is a WIW post by a non site supporter...
