Re: putting in 700r4
Run a cable type shifter for the 700 and all you need to do is make sure you have a straight shot to the linkage on the trans

Re: putting in 700r4
The Lokar type mounts to the trans housing itself - you can find illustrations at any Lokar dealer's site.
I went with the B&M cable-type - you mount the shifter wherever you have room to clear the seats; only the cable itself goes through the floor and wraps around to the driver side of the trans where its bracket mounts for the shift lever - pretty simple. |

Re: putting in 700r4
Use a B&M Shifter. They are the cable type. You just need to drill a few holes and run the cable through. Work great!

Re: putting in 700r4
The lokar mnt is for the manuel trans looking shifter now if your limited on space then run a b&m or hurst shifter and the cable is like a bike's brake cables only heavier and all you have to do is drill a smallhole for the cable. To anwser your original question if you want to go with the lokar piece then you will have to install the trans with the bracket and set it in place to get an accurate spot to cut.

Re: putting in 700r4
look by the screwdriver and you'll see the cable and this is my 91 700r4. The way the shifter was mounted was done by the po and will be changed as soon as I get that far along in the resto.

Re: putting in 700r4
One word of advise on installing that 700R4. You will need to make sure that the TV cable is properly adjusted for proper transmission operation and to avoid burning it up.

Re: putting in 700r4
I bought the tv right deal from tci and it will not work on a demon but will work on a holly so...I still have and want to get rid of...pm also since I didn't do the tv I set it by pressure through the pressure port of the vb and got it a touch higher than stock. I will be going with a bowler tvright kit when the truck is done.

Re: putting in 700r4
If you are gonna hook it up to the normal colum shifter ow would you go about that. Also when going from a th400 what else would need to be done. Sorry for stealing the thread.
