Noisy AC
Hey guys, I need some help with a noisy AC compressor. It's not squealing like a loose belt but there's an annoying 'chirp'.
How do i fix this? |

Re: Noisy AC
Is it a new belt? Adjusted right? You can try a little WD40 on it and see if it takes the chirp away..

Re: Noisy AC
time for a new belt or if theres room to tighten it some its just a hair loose that makes it slip when the compressor cycles

Re: Noisy AC
It does it regardless if the AC is on or not. I turn on the AC this am to see if it would stop but it wouldn't.
Would it still be the belt? |

Re: Noisy AC
I have had good luck on problematic ones with scuffing the pulleys with sanpaper and replacing the belt with a new one. If you tighten the belt too much, you'll kill a bearing in something eventually, or at least that was my experience when I was younger.

Re: Noisy AC
I installed a new AC belt but i still have the squeak/squeal. Something i noticed when I was putting on the belt was oil. On the underside of my compressor, it was quite oily. Is my compressor leaking? Would that be the cause of my noise? How do I stop the leak?
