Difference between an auto/manual crossmember?
I'm converting my 3 on the tree truck to an automatic, and was wondering what is the difference between the manual crossmember and an automatic crossmember? if i do a automatic floor shift can i keep my original steering column? Also im putting in a 700R4 if that makes any difference.
Thanks! Last edited by bmrrwolfe; 10-23-2008 at 09:53 AM. |

Re: Difference between an auto/manual crossmember?
The 3 spd cross member is under the bell housing of the transmission, and is riveted in place. The auto cross member mounts under the tail shaft of the automatic. You need an automatic cross member, the manual cross member will not work.

Re: Difference between an auto/manual crossmember?
You may need to have the driveshaft shortened and a 700R4 needs to be set up properly or it will burn up quickly.
