Anyone know how to remove the plate under the stock 4 barrel intake? Looks like it is riveted in?

Re: Plate under Stock Intake Removal

Slot them with a thin cutting disc on a hand grinder or ig your steady with a hack saw. Then wack em with an impact driver to loosen. They are spiral rivets but do come out.

Re: Plate under Stock Intake Removal

I tap the four holes with a 8-24 tap and use stainless screws to hold the plate on. The tap will bottom out so the last few threads are not cut completely so the screws will lock in place when tightened up.

Re: Plate under Stock Intake Removal

I know this is late because you already have the cover off. When I removed mine I just used a sharp chisel under the head of the rivet and it popped right out. Replaced the rivets in the same hole they came out of . Had to hammer them back in so think they will stay in place.

Re: Plate under Stock Intake Removal

Moroso and Milodon have a super slick tray to take its place. it keeps the lifters in place in the event of a catastrophic valve train failure. it uses 2 spring steel strips between it and the intake to hold it down. I think they go for about $30.
found it
