Crazy Wind noise...

When I'm driving on the highway, I get wind noise from both doors/windows and somewhere behind the seats I feel cold air too I can't hear the radio over the wind. Does anyone else get this problem too?

The vent windows are closed, but I still see a gap at the top leading edge of the glass, can I fix this?

All new seals are very expensive, any quick fixes? Other than silicone

my velvet? seal stuff around my windows is halfway gone and the wind noise in my cab is awful, add to that the rear sliding window that vibrates from my exhaust, and the glove box that vibrates from the exhaust, and its hard for me to hear too

duct tape is a good idea, afterall they use it in NASCAR right?

However i think it might detract from the overall look I was going for....

I hate this but it's what you asked for . go to hardware store and buy cheap stick on foam weatherstrip , about 1/2" wide by 1/4" thick, and add it to all the door perimeter weatherstrip sealing surfaces .
on the vent windows . work some oil into the pivots so that they move freely. close them as tight as they will go. with the 'new' DOOR weatherstrip in place see what kind of noise you get now . pull in on the vents while driving , does it get quieter?? if so try shimming the handle/latches to close them even tighter . I sealed mine with clear silicone. there is another trick left but involved . see how that works , DAVE

This is a very common problem with our trucks. Weatherstripping is probably gone on any trucks older than '85. You can get full replacement kits from JC Whitney and other places. They are not cheap, but are definitely worth it. Before I put my cab back together, I'm definitely replacing all weatherstripping inside and out.

Yup, you just have an old truck. New weatherstripping with tighten the cab back up and get the wind out.

All the major chevy truck suppliers have it. First, you can try JC Whitney. I've actually heard that their stuff is pretty good.

I have some links on my site also that you check. http://www.shelbournes.net/trucksite/links.htm

if you are like me, i dont use my vent windows (non smoker) i sealed mine with some BLACK SILICONE. cant see it and is a cheap easy fix. (UNTILL SOMEONE COMES UP WITH AN IDEA FOR A ONE PIECE WINDOW TO ELIMINATE THE VENT WINDOW)

One piece windows would rock! But I cant see someone tooling up for a run, when the trucks are not in production anymore. From a business standpoint its not a good idea. From our standpoint, it would be great.

Hey Kyle.

What year did GM quit putting vent windows in our trucks ???

Do the '90 Suburbans have one piece windows ??? If they do I think the doors are the same, and... if this is right, we could just get the guts from the wreckers and install them.

Yes, No, Maybe... ????????????????

Sorry to ruin the hopes Bill, but I think you misunderstood me. What I was trying to say is that since out trucks aren't in producton anymore, nobody would find it economically feasable to make one piece windows for them.

j-spec , they are not making MANY MANY cars & trucks but it IS profitable for the companies that makes repro parts for them and since there are SO MANY of our year trucks that take the same windows (15 years ) it would definately be profitable. The early Ford f-1 & f-100 people have made a few $$ selling parts for out of production trucks not to mention 67-72 chevy trucks , Mustangs camaros , chevelle vette , etc. and they keep making more . they just have not caught on yet as to how many people are really looking for them.
