Post In Frame Fuel Tank Conversion

Hey All,
Has anyone ever done an in-frame fuel tank conversion on a 73-87 Chevy pickup? I have a 1 ton 82 chevy crewcab with dual tanks. One tank is shelled and the wiring for the changeover switch is all hosed too. I want to take a tank out of a Suburban and mount it in between the frame rails out back. Will this fit? I have a 86 Sub too, but have not gone out and done some measuring yet. Wondering if anyone has done one of these conversions? What about the fuel gauge? Any modifications I would need to do there? What about the filler neck? I'm not worried about having to do modifications to the truck. I have a wire welder and all the tools to do this. I'm just wondering how big of a job it is. I'd rather have one 40 gallon tank instead of two 20 gallon tanks.
Thanks
Mike

Hi Gerardo,
Thanks. If either of you see Chris, send him my way. I would really be interested in talking to him on this conversion. I figure since I already have to buy a tank, I might as well buy one big one.
Oh Gerardo, it is an honor to meet you. I came across your website on the BAD BOW truck a few months ago. Not even sure how I found it. Might have been a link in this group...may have been while I was searching from Google on truck rebuilds...
Thanks for the tips so far.
Mike

Gerardo,
Thanks for the compliments. Either the room is shrinking, or my head is swelling.

Mike,
I sent you an email about the conversion and how I did it. If you have more questions, feel free to email me anytime.

Chris, I think your head is swelling like mine is. People just like our trucks!!

Mike,

Thanks for the compliments. I'll be adding a few more webpages after I get back from vacation. I just got some new aluminum wheels for $100!! I traded my stock 15X8 wheels and $100 for some shiny new 15X8 aluminum wheels. They sure do look good. Feel free to ask any questions.

See ya around.
