location of nuetral safety switch
69 automatic. I have no reverse light but bulbs and fuse are good. Thought I would replace neutral safety switch and see what happens.

Re: location of nuetral safety switch
# 35 in the diagram.Pull the wires off the "back up" and jump them or ohm the switch to check it before you replace it.

Re: location of nuetral safety switch
Thanks sneakysnake. When you say ohm them does that mean run a hot wire to them?

Re: location of nuetral safety switch
No, "ohm" is to check resistance with a multimeter, to see if the switch is "closing". Jumping is to take a piece of wire and connect the two wires from the switch(connecting them like the switch) would.

Re: location of nuetral safety switch
no problem. This weekend I'm planning on taking photos of tools to buy, and tools to make, for electrical troubleshooting, and post it in the electrical section. Also, probably a how to on locating shorts and open circuits.

Very cool longhornman, that will be some very useful information. Electrical has always been touchy stuff for me. Don't tell anyone I work for the local power company

Re: location of nuetral safety switch
greay... as you well know, A/C and D/C are not very much alike. So you may well be a dam good electrician yet be lost under the dash. More people need to understand that.
I am lucky, I grasp the D/C stuff real easy... but on 110 A/C... I know enough to shock myself, but stubborn enough to get zapped a 2nd and even 3rd time. The basic 12 volt stuff in these trucks is so simple, in reality, just about anyone can understand it once they learn a few things, and get over the fear. You don't have to be able to see it to understand it. It's not voo doo, not dark science, and seldom is it tricky. |

Re: location of nuetral safety switch
that's great, I feel more confident already. I got this new seat from an 05 and nothing happens with the switches when I put power to it. Pretty sure all I need is an Orange (power) and a black (ground), it's been bothering me. It's one of those full power seats. Anyways, I'm now trying to find the electrical section in this forum and check it out.
