Re: What did you get done? 10/26

I managed to get the painted cab back to my house Fri night from my dad's, where it has been sitting for the last 3 or 4 months since he painted it. Got it moved onto the frame saturday morning before had to go to a wedding, then yesterday got the whole bottom of it painted with Por-15, cut the whole in the floor to drop my 4x4 hump on it, and got all the bed floor members, gas tank, and straps, lift springs, and all the misc pieces painted up to start the reinstall on the truck. Bed is also all painted, and just needs to get back to one piece soon. Was a rather productive weekend for what little time I spent in the garage.

Here are some teasers

I was recovering from a upper and lower respiratory infection so I stayed in most all weekend.

Re: What did you get done? 10/26

The wife and I have been discussing a vehicle for my soon to be 16 year old daughter. I’ve decided to hand over my S10 after some changes. I picked up a bone stock solid running 305 with a 200R4 on Saturday that will replace the 383/TH350 currently in the S10. Also going to raise it up a couple inches and change some other things to make it more driver friendly for a 16 year old girl. She loves the truck and I can’t wait to see her face when I hand her the keys. Of course I’ll have her in my beater Mazda first to gain some driving skills.

The 383/350 will find their way into the “Heap” at some point, well, unless I find a decent deal on a big block.

Re: What did you get done? 10/26

Well i worked on the 69 SWB, pulled the engine and tranny again to replace a fly wheel that was the wrong size, got it put back in and all hooked up then we realised that the key to start it was in my dad's 18wheeler......It was in Cali I am in Ok....so no test fire. Started the front suspension conversion But need to wait on the ball joints to come in. So got alot done but not much...

Definitely not. This time last week I couldn't talk for 10 seconds before coughing my head off.

Thanks for the well wishes.

I started planning the tear down/part out of my used to be DD '86 C-10, drank a few drinks, and moved some things into storage for the winter.

Here's a pic as it sits now.

Nice truck... I used to get those when I drove my truck daily. Lately, it's been an on/off jackstand queen. Drove to work today, and the headlight hi/lo beam switch craps out 3/4ths of the way. That resulted in spuratic auto on/off of lo AND hi beams.

Here's the latest pic of the truck...

Not your average 262/305/350 C10.

Sweet install. Love the sport truck wheels too. I think they are the best looking "truck" wheel GM ever made until recently..

Thx. Engine swap wasn't difficult. Interfacing took some time. Wheels are from an SS truck (not the knock-off latter model Silverados).

Thanks, my dad owns a body shop, so I know a good place to go for a good price. The whole body is painted now, just starting the slow process of putting back together. It is a Chrysler color, and it has 5 coats of clear over top, so it will be smoooooth when done.

It will look a lot better this time, then when we restored it 14 years ago. The only I don't like about making it look nice, is now it looks so nice, I don't think I can put the plow back on it.
